Menu for Hope: A Cuisinart Elite Collection 12-Cup Food Processor & a Copy of our Cookbook (code UE16). The Bidding is Live!

Meal Makeover Moms’ Kitchen is thrilled to be part of Menu for Hope, an annual hunger-relief fundraising event involving food bloggers from around the world. Organized by Pim at Chez Pim, this year’s Menu for Hope VI campaign will support the World Food Programme and it’s Purchase for Progress program (more on P4P in a moment).

Over the past three years alone, Menu for Hope has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars in support of the good work of the UN World Food Programme. WFP is the world’s largest food aid agency, working with over 1,000 other organizations in 75 countries. In addition to providing food, the World Food Program helps hungry people become self-reliant so that they escape hunger for good.

menuforhopelogoDuring the event, food bloggers like us donate prizes to Menu for Hope –  you can check out all the foodie offerings on Chez Pim’s website. Then, from December 14 – 31, anyone can go online and bid on the item or items of their dreams. For every $10 donated, you earn one virtual raffle ticket. The winners will be selected randomly and the results posted on January 18, 2010 on Chez Pim.

Here at Meal Makeover Moms’ Kitchen, we’re donating a two-part prize. One lucky bidder will receive a copy of our cookbook, The Moms’ Guide to Meal Makeovers ($16.00 value), and a fabulous Cuisinart Elite Collection 12-Cup Food Processor ($249.00 value) – [U.S. only]. The food processor was generously donated by Cuisinart, and you’re going to love its many cool features: a 4-cup work bowl nested inside the big, 12-cup and a SealTightTM Advantage System which seals bowls and locks blades to prevent leaking from the bottom of the bowl when the processor is in use or while pouring out ingredients. For all of our food processor-less readers and Facebook fans who have not been able to make our Grab-and-Go Granola Bars, this is the item for you!

This year, Menu for Hope is supporting a new initiative at the WFP called Purchase for Progress (P4P). P4P helps farmers improve farming practices and puts more cash directly into their pockets in return for their crops. This helps to buoy local economies by creating jobs.  For those of us who buy locally in an effort to support our local farms, P4P does the same for farmers in low-income countries around the world.

Place Your Bids!:

A company called First Giving will be handling all the bids for the campaign. Please keep in mind that your donations are tax deductible. The code specific to our prize — a copy of The Moms’ Guide to Meal Makeovers and a Cuisinart Elite Collection 12-Cup Food Processor — is UE16, and you’ll need to specify this code when you make your donation at First Giving. Here’s how it all works:

> Choose a bid item or items from the Menu for Hope bid item list.

> Visit the donation site at First Giving and make a donation.

> Please specify which bid item you’d like in the Personal Message section when confirming your donation, and indicate the number of tickets per bid item. Be sure to use the bid item code.

> For every$10.00 you donate, you will receive one virtual raffle ticket. Of course, you can give more than $10.00. For example, a donation of $50.00 will buy 5 tickets for UE16 or 5 tickets for 5 different items.

> If the company you work for is able to match your donation, check the box and fill in the required information.

> When filling out the form, please provide your email address so you can be notified in case you win. Your email address will not be shared.

Thanks for participating in this amazing global event!

I donated to the site today, but then I saw a page that said the raffle was closed? Did it not go until the 25th?
