Soup’s On

Even though the weather here in Boston has been unseasonably warm — it was 68 degrees yesterday! — lately Liz’s kids have had a hankering for soup.

Recently, Campbell’s sent her samples of their new line-up of condensed kids’ soups … new because they’re lower in sodium with just 480 milligrams per serving, low in fat, a good source of vitamin A, and made with no added MSG.  She was curious to see what her boys thought about the new soups, so when Simon’s friend Nikolas came over after school the other day, she asked them to choose a variety and offer their feedback.

Simon picked Mega Noodle, slurped down a few spoonfuls and declared that the soup made him “feel good” and that he liked the “mega” noodles the best. Nikolas went for the Chicken Alphabet and told me his favorite thing about the soup was also the noodles.  Admittedly, Nikolas said his mom’s soups were better (good answer Nikolas since your mom is sure to read this blog post) but all in all, I got two-thumbs up from the boys.

As for Liz’s opinion, she’s happy to see these lower sodium soup options for kids. That, coupled with the fact that none has MSG and they all include veggies, makes for a fun lunch or an after-school snack option.
