A Sneak Preview

When our website, MealMakeoverMoms.com, launched back in 2003, it was one of the coolest food websites out there (in our humble opinions). But now, even we must admit that it’s in dire need of an extreme makeover! For our new site design, we’ve teamed up with Atlanta-based artist Laura Coyle, the same artist who illustrated our cookbook. Though we can’t show you the new website just yet, we decided to give you a sneak preview of our new Meal Makeover Moms logo.

We’d love to know what you think of it. And while you’re at it, feel free to share your thoughts on a few other aspects of our soon-to-be launched website. Here’s what we’d like to know:
1. What kinds of recipes do you hope to see on our new website? Whether it’s lunch box ideas, slow cooker, desserts or snacks, let us know.
2. On May 7th, we will be launching our weekly radio podcast, Cooking with the Moms. During each show, we’ll tackle a different mealtime challenge — fast weeknight dinners, healthy snacks for kids, brunch ideas — and share two new recipes with our listeners. What are your mealtime challenges? What would you like to hear us talk about?
3. We’re all about healthy recipe makeovers, so if you have a favorite family recipe you’d like us to tweak, send it our way.We look forward to reading your comments.

    1. More slow cooker recipes. I am a huge fan and missed seeing those types of things in the book.

    2. Maybe a ‘make ahead’ or ‘how to freeze’ part on recipes. I love the recipes and often wonder what I can make the night before so that it goes faster.

3.Love to make more ‘good’ veggie dishes. Especially things that can be made and then froze for another time.

Looking forward to your new book and recipes.

  2. James and Charity Says:

I agree with Ann and vote for more slow cooker recipes! I also like healthy snack recipes. I love the creative element to many of your recipes, such as putting squash in the whole enchilada bake. I’m always looking for more veggie recipes and bean recipes too.

I cannot wait for your new website and your new cookbook!!

I agree with the others…more slow cooker recipes. I love the idea of dinner recipes organized by time. Maybe a make ahead section; a quick to prepare and then bake section; quick to the table section and a few recipes for when we actually have a little time to enjoy cooking.

Healthy snack recipes are always welcomed.

I also love how you suggest what to serve with the main dish in your first book. That is so helpful when meal planning.

    Thanks!!!

I also agree about the slow cooker recipes. Also, as prices of things get higher, I would like to see more to do with beans. My kids don’t like Mexican food or spices so other ideas would be great. I also agree with one of the other posters, quick meals when you forgot to defrost.

Thanks, I love the book and would love more!!!

  5. Renata Says:

Yes, slow cooker meals, as well as quick meals that don’t give off so much heat when cooking. Money saving tips would be great too.

  6. The Meal Makeover Moms Says:

These are all great ideas and comments. We plan to have a chapter featuring slow cooker recipes in book #2. We’ll also have plenty of recipes with beans and lots of recipes showcasing vegetables. In fact, if you pick up the June issue of Kiwi Magazine you can read our “Veggie Love” article. We’ll also post a pdf of the article on our website when the magazine hits the newsstand.

    Keep those comments coming!

  7. Regular, with half and half and raw sugar Says:

I get in a snack rut all the time! Please give lots of ideas for healthy, fun snacks!

  8. Anonymous Says:

HI- How about a recipe/suggestion area for the parents who need to lose some weight or are trying to keep those age related diseases at bay such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. After all I have heard of some adults that sneak that extra muffin or dessert item and gain weight :-) We gotta keep the parents healthy too!
    What do you think?
    Greg

  9. The Meal Makeover Moms Says:

Love these ideas. Getting in a snack rut is a common challenge for parents. In fact, our May 14th podcast will be devoted to healthy snack ideas and recipes so be sure to tune in.

And Greg, you are right, snacking in between meals and nibbling on sweets can sure pack on the calories and cause weight gain. We’ll be sure to address this in book #2. Now that the nice weather is here, we hope you are able to get out there and exercise Greg!

I am glad you like the ideas. I think a chapter like this would be welcome by the adults and broaden the appeal of the book. I don’t think it has to be exhaustive recommendations – maybe a top ten for heart health (men and women specific), diabetes, blood pressure, some weight loss suggestions with realistic timelines and family friendly recipes, exercise suggestions too (men and women specific). I would just say before you go to print make sure you have the latest research on omega 3/6 ratios, exercise needs, heart health, diabetes, etc. It is so frustrating when books give outdated info or info only for women or men, you know what I mean, like half the info is there.
Exercise, yes I am exercising. I purchased a treadmill last January since winter can be tough here in southern minnesota so, I have been moving it since January. I also got a new puppy about 2 months ago and he keeps me on the go. Also, just planted 2 huge raspberry gardens and have started the fence for my goats – activity is my middle name and the pounds are dropping.
Do you have a date for the new book yet or a launch date for the new site.
    Can’t wait!
    Greg
